Marek Alscher Selected 93rd Overall by Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have selected Marek Alscher with the 93rd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Marek Alscher

Alscher, 18, played for the Portland Winterhawks last season. The defenseman recorded 16 points across 61 games last season. Alscher still has a couple years of junior eligibility remaining, so he will likely return to Portland next season.

The Czechia-born player stands tall at 6’3″ while hitting the scales at 198 pounds. Alscher was born in Kladno, Czechia the same birthplace as former Panther Jaromir Jagr. However, he will not be known for his offensive prowess. While potential is there for him to grown in point-scoring, Marek’s game is rooted in his defensive play. Ranked the 177th best North American skater by NHL Central Scouting, Alscher was a bit of a reach. Despite this, as the later rounds arrive the Draft becomes a game of darts.
