Josh Davies Selected 186th Overall by Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have selected Josh Davies with the 186th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Josh Davies

Davies, 18, played for the Swift Current Broncos last season. The left winger recorded 36 points in 64 games last season. Similar to Panthers third round pick, Marek Alscher, he has a couple years of junior eligibility remaining. There is no rush to get Davies in the lineup, and he will have another year to develop next season.

The Alberta-born player is a smaller player, standing 5’10” tall, but he is a full 196 pounds. His size concern has been washed out due to his game-changing speed. Also, 119 penalty minutes gives some insight that Davies’ size does not deter him from physical play. The Airdrie native does have a handful of looming concerns that make him a risky pick. However, if Davies pans out he can become a reliable depth player.
