The Florida Panthers have selected Jack Devine with the 221st overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Jack Devine
Devine, 18, played for the University of Denver Pioneers last season. The right winger recorded 19 points in 36 games last season, including an assist in the national championship game. Next year, Devine will be a sophomore and will look to win another national championship, while elevating his game. After a few more years, Devine will be prepared to bring his winning ways to Sunrise.
The Illinois-born player is 5’11” but he lacks NHL strength weighing in at 176 pounds. Devine was a steal in the seventh round as he received an honorable mention in Bob McKenzie’s rankings. In addition, he was ranked 65th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting. The Glencoe-native is well rounded in all aspects of the game, which presents confusion as to why he was not drafted earlier. The reason for his stock falling is his lack of decisiveness in his play. If this pick pans out, Florida will have a good contributor on their hands.
