The Tampa Bay Lightning have selected Dyllan Gill with the 223rd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Dyllan Gill
Gill, 18, played for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies last season. Gill recorded 21 points in 66 games last season but he had a +/- of -22. This can be slightly justified by the QMJHL being a notoriously high-scoring league, but this is not exactly what you want to be seeing. The Lightning will be hoping this second to last pick of the draft can develop through his time in juniors. Following that, it will be up to Tampa Bay to craft this seventh rounder into the next late-draft steal.
The New Brunswick-born player stands 6’2″ tall while weighing 181 pounds. There seems to not be very much hope for this young prospect. There will be a lot of work to get done to make this young man an NHL player. As of right now, his career projection would be an AHL defenseman to fill in when the injury bug strikes. At the end of the day, there is a reason Tampa Bay targeted Gill and he will look to prove people wrong.
