Miami Marlins Outfielder Lewis Brinson exited Thursday’s contest against Washington with an apparent left thumb sprain.
In the top of the fifth inning, Alcides Escobar lifted a lazy fly ball to shallow left-center field. Lewis Brinson and Bryan De La Cruz both came in and collided with each other. The ball ended up dropping, as Escobar reached second with a double.
After the collision, Brinson was seen flexing his wrist. A few moments later, the 27-year-old was removed from the game.
After the game, X-rays came back negative. Brinson is now listed day-to-day.
More to come.
