Marlins News: Starling Marte Returns, Miguel Rojas Placed On IL, and More

The Miami Marlins will kick off a three-game Memorial Day weekend series against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.

News and Notes

-Starling Marte is back in the Marlins lineup, batting second and playing center field. Marte, 32, has been on the shelf since April 20 with a rib fracture. Marte went 0-for-6 while playing six innings in center field across two rehab games with Jacksonville.

-The Miami Marlins placed SS Miguel Rojas on the 10-day IL with left index finger dislocation.

-The Marlins 40-man roster is full again. Luis Marte had his contract selected, while Lewin Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville.

-Catcher Sandy Leon will make his return to Fenway Park. Leon, 32, spent five years in Boston and won a World Series with them.

-Rookie Jose Devers will face his cousin, Rafael Devers, for the first time on Friday night. Jose will play SS while Rafael will play 3B.

-Sixto Sanchez recently threw a 20-pitch bullpen. Sanchez has yet to pitch this season.

-Edward Cabrera recently threw a 20-pitch live BP session.

-Lewis Brinson has started a rehab assignment in Triple-A Jacksonville.
