Nick Malik Selected 160th Overall by Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning have selected Nick Malik with the 160th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Nick Malik

Malik, 20, played for KooKoo last season. Malik was dominant, posting a .922 save percentage in the regular season. Nick would follow that up with a .924 in the postseason. As a rookie in Liiga, the goalie finished fourth in save percentage in one of the top European leagues in the world. Next season, Malik can make the hop over to North America. Most prospects, however, remain with the team they were drafted out of.

The American-born goalie stands 6’2″ tall with a 179 pound frame. Nick’s father played 13 seasons in the NHL, and wrapped up his career in Tampa Bay. Malik, will look to follow his father’s footsteps by putting a Lightning jersey on in the future. While the Lightning goaltending could use a backup for now, the starting role will be held by Vasilevskiy for years to come. Malik, might one day be the Bolts starter, but for now he will be holding it down in Finland.
