The Miami Marlins have traded relief pitcher Yimi Garcia to the Houston Astros in exchange for pitcher Austin Pruitt and Triple-A outfielder Bryan De La Cruz.
Yimi Garcia
Garcia, 30, has been disappointing this season with a 3-7 record and a 3.47 ERA. However, the 30-year-old has 15 saves in 18 save opportunities (39 games).
Bryan De La Cruz
De La Cruz is a 24-year-old right-handed-hitting outfielder. This season in Triple-A (66 games), the 24-year-old is slashing .324/.362/.518 with 12 home runs and an .880 OPS. The righty also has 50 RBI’s which ranks 5th in Triple-A.
De La Cruz has played 16 games in CF, and 22 in RF. After the departure of Starling Marte, he can potentially be in Miami’s future outfield plans.
Austin Pruitt
Pruitt, 31, has pitched in two games this season, notching no wins and one loss with a 6.75 ERA. In his career (69 games), Pruitt is 12-9 with a 4.89 ERA. The 31-year-old also has five career saves.
