2025 Tampa Bay Rays & Miami Marlins WIN Total Projections

Do not look now but the Tampa Bay Rays are reporting for spring training in 27 days. The Miami Marlins will have pitchers and catchers reporting for duty in 28 days.

Many parts of our great nation are contemplating how they will get through the frigid winter weather. Fortunately for us, we have the luxury of thinking about baseball instead of snow. As we await the return of America’s favorite pastime, let’s review how the professionals created win total odds for the Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins.

Within January common betting odds formats worth exploring for the Rays and Marlins are dependent on multiple factors. Oddsmakers will consider the hot stove topics that have derived from the 2024 Winter Meetings, published 2025 regular season schedules, off-season trades, and free agent signings. They will then publish WIN total odds before forecasting individual player props.

As we await player prop and exotic season-long odds, the early Tampa Bay Rays WIN total line is 80.5. Meanwhile, Miami Marlins fans are looking for ways to exceed an expectation of 69.5 total wins.

American League Tampa Bay Rays OVER / UNDER 80.5 WINS

The Tampa Bay Rays bullpen is the best under-the-radar fact in all of Major League Baseball. Their team of relief pitchers posted a 2.91 ERA in the second half of the 2024 season. The only teams that bested them in this time frame were the Cleveland Guardians (2.50 ERA) and Milwaukee Brewers (2.72). This portion of the team will return in 2025 intact. As the general public moves away from the NFL playoffs and March Madness, expect more people to pick up on this factor. Should they take betting action on it, expect the initial win total line to be increased by oddsmakers.

The Tampa Bay bullpen will be led again by RHP Pete Fairbanks. His strikeout rate did drop in 2024 to 23.8%. We would like to see the ERA he posted of 3.57 to be improved upon as well. But you cannot deny the ball movement this closer has. He finished last season with 63 saves and has proven that he can get the job done of closing games. Other notables include RHP Edwin Uceta, RHP Kevin Kelly, LHP Garrett Cleavinger, RHP Manuel Rodriguez and LHP Mason Montgomery.

National League Miami Marlins OVER / UNDER 69.5 WINS

I expect the UNDER 69.5 line to be bet into significantly forcing oddsmakers to adjust their win total position. Teams like the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets continue to make off-season acquisitions. They will be better in 2025.

The Miami Marlins are coming off a frustrating 2024 season by finishing 62-100; a record that has tied them to the cellular of the NL East. The team has made what can best be described as minor-league acquisitions; acquisitions that can help in the long term not necessarily the short term. However, for the short term, the team has removed itself from making any significant financial commitments.

For such reasons, hammer the UNDER 69.5 while you still have a chance.
