Jayson Shaugabay Selected 115th Overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning have selected Jayson Shaugabay with 115th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Jayson Shaugabay

Shaugabay, 18, played for Warroad High School in Minnesota last season. He was electric, posting 96 points in 36 games leading his team to the Class A State final. Beyond his high school team, Shaugabay also played for the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL. For the Gamblers, the Minnesota native recorded 16 points in 27 games. Next year Shaugabay will be playing college hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Shaugabay is a playmaker through and through. He has an elite ability to create space and dish the puck to teammates for goals. Listed by most as a top-100 prospect this was a great pick for Tampa Bay. In addition, Shaugabay saw some limit to his draft stock due to his 5’9″ stature.
