Albert Wikman Selected 127th Overall by Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have selected Albert Wikman with the 124th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Albert Wikman

Wikman, 18, played for Färjestad BK of the J20 Nationell in Sweden last year. Playing in the under twenty league, Wikman posted 12 points in 43 games. In addition, the Swedish defenseman served as the alternate captain for the team. Throughout the season, Wikman also played 11 games for Färjestad’s professional team in the SHL. This experience against top talent will help prepare him for the NHL.

Wikman possesses talent in many aspects of the game, although he is not particularly elite in any aspect. His strongest skill would be his skating. It is good that it is his skating that stands out as it has an enormous role in a defenseman’s game. Wikman will be a long term project for the Panthers that could pan out to be a bottom-pair defenseman. Luckily for Florida, he will have the opportunity to play professionally in Sweden and improve his abilities.
