Marlins Fall to Mets 6-0, Lose Series 3-1

On a bright and sunny day in New York City, Queens to be exact, the Miami Marlins took on the New York Mets in the series finale. Both starting pitchers did their job but in the end the Mets bats came alive later in the game and New York won the game 6-0 and won the four game series 3-1.

Recap

Trevor Rogers got the party started for the Marlins and he went five innings, allowing five hits and three runs along with seven strikeouts.

On the other side, New York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson was absolutely stellar for the Metropolitans. Peterson pitched over five innings, while allowing no runs on seven strikeouts. Both the Mets and Marlins hitters found their groove but unfortunately the Mets were able to plate the runs and the Marlins left the runners stranded.

The big turning point in the game was when the Mets scored two runs in the fourth off a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch by Rogers of the Marlins.

Simply, after a big game on Sunday, the Marlins could not handle the defense and pitching of the New York Mets and ultimately lost by leaving too many players on base. The Marlins left a total of 10 players on base throughout the game.
