Rays Trade Joey Wendle To Miami

The Miami Marlins have acquired Joey Wendle in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. In return, Tampa Bay is receiving Kameron Misner.

Wendle, 31, is coming off of an All-Star season. Last year, he hit 11 home runs with a .265 batting average in 136 games.

Wendle is one of the few MLB players to eschew batting gloves. Also, the 31-year-old is a super-utility player who played above-average defense at each of second base, third base and shortstop.

Misner, 23, was Miami’s 35th overall pick in the 2019 draft. The new Tampa Bay Ray plays the outfield position, and reached Double-A last season.
