Coming off of a perplexing loss on the road in Washington on Sunday, losing 29-19 to the Football Team in a game they never led, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
The Giants, who have been notoriously known for beating Tom Brady, are coming off of a bye week in which they had won two of three games heading into the bye. New York allowed just 13.0 points per game over the stretch, the lowest in the NFL over that span.
Tom Brady will likely come into this Monday Night Matchup with a ton of energy. The Buccaneers losing three straight games is hard to imagine. In addition, Tom Brady hates the Giants, so why not beat them?!
Players To Look Out For
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones, 24, had 11 touchdown passes in 14 games last season. This season, Jones already has eight in nine games. These are average numbers, but these numbers still won’t tell us if Jones is the Giants’ long-term quarterback. The Giants need to get some more definitive answers on Jones down the stretch of this season. A strong and impressive performance against a tough Tampa Bay defense on primetime football would help Jones’ case to be New York’s long-term QB.
This season, Jones has thrown for 2059 yards with eight touchdowns and five interceptions.
Jones will look for his first career primetime win on Monday. He is currently 0-7.
“Each game’s a different opportunity, so we look to prepare for this one”
Mike Evans
This season, Mike Evans has hauled in 606 yards (on 41 grabs) and nine touchdowns. Even if Chris Godwin plays Monday night, expect Evans to be heavily involved.
Chris Godwin
Chris Godwin comes in as questionable. Godwin has 57 receptions, 714 yards, and four touchdowns on the year for Tampa Bay.
Saquon Barkley
Saquon Barkley also comes in to Monday’s matchup as questionable. Barkley has missed the past four games since injuring his ankle against the Cowboys in Week 5.
Kenny Golladay
This season, Kenny Golladay has appeared in just six games, missing three games due to injury. Golladay has just 19 receptions for 310 yards and not a single touchdown. In order to beat the Buccaneers, the Giants will need a touchdown from Golladay.
Golladay was signed to a four-year, $72 million contract this offseason. The Giants are expecting the Chicago-born receiver to step up and become their playmaker against Tampa Bay.
“Of course I want to set goals and put how many touchdowns I want,” Golladay said. “Is it frustrating? For me, yeah, just because I haven’t gotten in the [end] zone yet. But at the end of the day, as long as I’m making catches to help us get touchdowns, I’m OK.”
