Florida Gators vs. Missouri Tigers Preview

Overview

After a close-knit victory against an FCS school, the Florida Gators sit one win away from clinching bowl eligibility. The Gators, who have produced their worst record since Dan Mullen arrived in Gainesville, are set to play their final SEC game this week before enduring rival Florida State.

Standing in their way is the Missouri Tigers (5-5, 2-4 SEC) — a team that is also desperate to earn a deeply-coveted sixth win. “Mizzou” (as their fans refer to it) has failed to earn back-to-back wins at any point over the course of the 2021 college football season. Each of their triumphs — Central Michigan, Southeast Missouri State, North Texas, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina —  are vs. teams in the bottom half of the ESPN FPI.

Keys to the Game

For Florida, the key question is whether the defense can step it up in light of former DC Todd Grantham’s firing. UF has allowed an average of 43.75 PPG in their last four matchups (Last week vs. Samford included) and Saturday’s opponent owns a top 50 offense in the country (47th).
