Jaguars Sign Cornerback Nevin Lawson

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed CB Nevin Lawson to a one-year deal.

Lawson, who was suspended earlier this offseason due to a violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy, was recently released by the Raiders. It was the second consecutive season that Lawson started the year on the suspended list.

The 30-year-old has started 14 games for the Raiders over the last two seasons while recording nine pass deflections and two forced fumbles. In those games, Lawson has played primarily from the slot.

In his career, the eight-year veteran has appeared in 88 games with 68 starts. Lawson has 290 career tackles, 34 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Lawson will bring plenty of experience to a young Jacksonville secondary.

Jacksonville’s Secondary:

  • Shaquill Griffin
  • CJ Henderson (currently injured)
  • Tyson Campbell
  • Chris Claybrooks
  • Tre Herndon
