The Florida Gators — standing out as one of the more compelling teams to look out for — received their 2022 schedule with some interesting “mark your calendar” matchups. Among the eye-catching opponents are Utah, LSU, Texas A&M and Georgia. How many games will Florida win in 2022?
Schedule
UF kicks off their 2022 season against Utah in a possible clash of top 25 opponents. The Utes currently stand at a record of 1-2 in the 2021 CFB season with losses to BYU and most recently San Diego State. Their start has been considered by most standards to qualify as sluggish, but they’ll hold plenty of opportunities to bounce back in Pac-12 play.
Next year’s face-off between the two teams in The Swamp will signify the first matchup of a home-and-away series scheduled for both 2022 and 2023. Utah is 3-9 all-time against SEC opponents compared to Florida’s 5-4 showing vs. the West’s power five conference.
After that, Florida’s journey features a fairly simple September with games against Kentucky, USF and Tennessee. Florida even has an early October matchup vs. Eastern Washington, Missouri and LSU. Six of the Gators’ seven opening games are set to kickoff at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The season’s second stretch serves as more important due to back-to-back duels with two of the SEC’s finest in Georgia and Texas A&M. UF’s game against their foes from across state lines is on October 29th at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. The TAMU game will be at Kyle Field in front of one of CFB’s largest and most hostile crowds.
After their game against Texas A&M, Florida will face South Carolina and then Vanderbilt.
To close it all out, Florida plays its final game at Doak Campbell Stadium against a rival: the Florida State Seminoles. The Gators are 36-26-2 all-time against FSU. However, the rivalry has been evenly split with ten wins apiece since 2000.
Schedule Thoughts
Overall, it’s a favorable schedule for the Gators as the only currently ranked opponents on the schedule are No. 2 Georgia and No. 7 Texas A&M. However, there is a chance LSU is ranked when the two teams face off next season.
