Dolphins Release Matt Skura and Benardrick McKinney

The Miami Dolphins have released C Matt Skura and LB Benardrick McKinney.

Matt Skura

Earlier this offseason, Matt Skura signed with Miami on a one-year deal. The former Duke athlete has played four seasons in the NFL, allowing one sack on 656 snaps in 2020, with only three penalties (one holding, two false starts). However, the 28-year-old will have to find a new team after the release.

Benardrick McKinney

Earlier this offseason, the Dolphins traded LB Shaq Lawson to the Houston Texans in return for LB Benardrick McKinney. McKinney, 28, is a Pro-Bowl caliber linebacker. However, he is coming off season-ending surgery, which possibly led to his release.

McKinney tallied a combined 206 tackles in 2018 and 2019, proving to be one of the most dangerous threats on the defensive side of the football for the Texans.
