The Miami Marlins are promoting top pitching prospect Edward Cabrera. Cabrera will make his Major League debut on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals.
Edward Cabrera
Cabrera, 23, has a 2.93 ERA and a 36.9 percent strikeout rate in 61 1/3 innings at the minor-league level (between Class-A Advanced, Double-A and Triple-A).
In his career at the minor-league level (five seasons), the right-handed Dominican is 19-25 with a 3.54 ERA. Cabrera also has 361 strikeouts in 341 innings.
The 6-foot-4 pitcher is Miami’s highest-ranked pitching prospect. That’s impressive considering the Marlins also have Sixto Sanchez and Max Meyer in their system.
According to MLB Pipeline, Cabrera is MLB’s No. 30 overall prospect.
