Montour, 27, tallied seven goals and 11 assists in 50 games last season (with the Sabres and Panthers). However, in his 12 games with Florida, Montour scored only two goals with four points.

In his career (293 games), the 27-year-old has 31 goals and 78 assists.

“After joining the Panthers at the deadline this past season, Brandon impressed us with his character, skillset, tenacity and passion,” said Zito. “We are excited to have him return to the Panthers as an important element of our defensive core.”

Brandon Montour on why he re-signed: “I felt like I was one of the guys right away [when I got here]. On the ice, you can see the team that we have and the talent we have. I wanted to find something where I’m on a winning team and a team that wants to win now.”
