Bold Predictions for the Florida State Seminoles in 2021

The Florida State Seminoles enter the 2021 season after posting a 3-6 record last year. Mike Norvell is expected to propel the Seminoles in the right direction and make his team compete in the ACC. Check out some bold predictions for FSU as the CFB season approaches:

McKenzie Milton Throws for 4,000 Yards and 35 TDs

FSU football: McKenzie Milton isn't just back. He's a serious starting contender for Seminoles

Milton did accomplish this feat during the 2017 season when UCF went undefeated and claimed a National Championship. After an impressive spring game performance, Milton is capable of making the Seminoles an air raid offense, but wide receivers such as Ontaria Wilson and Camren McDonald will have to step up. FSU faces three tough defenses in Notre Dame, Clemson, and Miami, but a passing offense would be more effective in these games than running the ball with Jashaun Corbin. For the Seminoles to even reach a record of .500, they require a prolific offense to make up for defensive deficiencies.

Seminoles Beat the Hurricanes at Home

After losing by 42 points to Miami last season, Florida State will be looking for revenge at home. D’Eriq King dismantled the Seminoles’ defense in the 2nd quarter, but the three early interceptions are what gave momentum to the Hurricanes. If FSU can avoid turning the ball over, they can limit Miami to under 40 points. From there, it depends on the offense to attack, so Milton and Corbin need to have big games. Since the Hurricanes are now a top three team in the ACC, a victory for the Seminoles would significantly boost their confidence. This matchup is the first step for Florida State to return to their prominence.

Florida State Makes It to the Gator Bowl or Sun Bowl

Let’s be real, it’s highly unlikely that the Seminoles qualify for an NY6 Bowl or a trip to the CFB playoff. An appearance in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl or Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl is more plausible. However, FSU would have to finish with a minimum record of 7-5 or 8-4, which is tough when looking at their 2021 schedule. Playing in a New Year’s Eve Bowl would definitely put Florida State back on the map. A victory against the Tar Heels, like last season, or against the Gators should similarly raise some eyebrows. Although there are tough games for the Seminoles, they need to capitalize on at least one to get back to the top of the conference. They just have to believe that they can win each game and hold no room for error.

Concluding Thoughts

FSU football coach Mike Norvell tests positive for coronavirus

For this upcoming season, the Florida State Seminoles have one of the five most difficult schedules in the FBS. If this year is another collapse, donors and fans may look for another coaching change. This is unwanted since every team requires time to reach the next level; people can’t expect another Bobby Bowden to show up so soon. It’s best for Florida State to take this season a week at a time, and hold Norvell responsible for making the necessary changes and moving up on the recruiting trail. Be hyped, but realistic about this year for the Seminoles.
