Jaguars Sign Wide Receiver Laquon Treadwell

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed wide receiver Laquon Treadwell after a successful mini-camp tryout. Treadwell, who played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2020, is coming off of a season in which he caught six passes on seven targets for 49 yards and two touchdowns. The 26-year-old wide receiver arrived in Atlanta last year after a disappointing campaign with the Minnesota Vikings. Treadwell was drafted by the purple and gold with the 23rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. There, he reeled in only 65 receptions and two touchdowns across a four-year span.

Urban Meyer’s Thoughts on Laquon Treadwell Joining the Team

When asked about Treadwell joining the team, Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer spoke highly of the wide receiver. As he stated, “So I thought he looked pretty good, big body that can run and great hands. So I was surprised… when I saw his name… I just remembered him very well and he didn’t disappoint.”

Concluding Thoughts

While Treadwell is on Jacksonville’s roster for now, his spot on the team for the season isn’t guaranteed. He’ll be competing for a job in a core that includes D.J. Chark Jr., Marvin Jones Jr., and Laviska Shenault Jr. Those three might not consist of the cream in the crop in the NFL, but they’re sure to throw some tough competition his way. So, although it won’t necessarily be impossible for him to stay a resident of Duval County in the future, Treadwell better put his best foot forward.
