Miami Legend Udonis Haslem

Long-time Miami Heat legend Udonis Haslem is currently in his 3rd decade as a member of the franchise. Since 2003, the 18 year veteran has served as a tremendous motivator, through his rugged play-style and resilient leadership qualities. While Haslem never demonstrated superstar talent, his will to win encouraged those around him to adapt his mindset. Haslem serves as an example for hard-nosed players that aim to carve a role for themselves in today’s league.

Haslem, a graduate of Miami High School and the University of Florida, joined the Miami Heat in 2003. After leading the Gators to four straight NCAA tournaments, Haslem opted to play in France after going undrafted in 2002. He was labeled overweight and too undersized to be selected in the 2002 NBA Draft. After nearly averaging a double-double in his first year in France, Haslem signed with the Miami Heat. Since then, he has silenced his doubters by being a key starter on 3 NBA championship teams. Udonis Haslem hasn’t filled out the stat sheet like other legends have, but his insurmountable impact on the franchise makes him a Miami legend.

Haslem stated that his atypical route to the NBA drove him to put forth maximum effort into every opportunity. His irrepressible passion for the game of basketball has been contagious to many of his teammates over the years. Haslem has drawn praise from superstar teammates like Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Bam Adebayo, who recognize the importance of a locker-room presence like Haslem. He also made an effort to make newcomers like Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro feel welcomed as members of the Heat.  Currently in his 18th season with the Miami Heat, Haslem serves as a shoulder to lean on for a young team contending for a championship.
