1: DeVonta Smith- 59 points (first place votes: 8 out of 14)

DeVonta Smith is arguably the best college football player right now. DeVonta Smith has shown time and time again that he is Heisman quality. In the SEC Championship, Smith had 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. In total, this season he has racked up 98 receptions, 1,511 yards, and 17 touchdowns. The last time a wide receiver won the Heisman was in 1991.

Heisman odds: -170

2: Mac Jones- 45 points (first place votes: 4 out of 14)

Mac Jones has had an amazing season with Alabama. He has driven Alabama to an undefeated season and has lead them to a spot in the playoffs. Mac Jones would be the first University of Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman trophy. This year he has thrown for 3,739 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. But, Mac Jones has explosive players that gain extra yards after the catch. Although Mac Jones has weapons, he is still arguably the best quarterback in college football.

Heisman odds: +160

The Back of the Pack

3: Trevor Lawrence- 44 points (first place votes: 1 out of 14)

Trevor Lawrence was the Heisman trophy favorite headed into the season, but lackluster stats and a positive Covid-19 test causing him to miss two games made Lawrence drop in the race. This season Lawrence has thrown for 2,753 yard, 22 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. Lawrence has played fewer games than the other Heisman candidates, giving him lesser stats.

Heisman odds: +1500

4: Kyle Trask- 28 points (first place votes: 0 out of 14)

Although Kyle Trask is fourth in the ESPN Heisman watch, he is still in the running to win it all. Kyle Trask has thrown for 4,125 yards, 43 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He is in fact the nation’s passing leader in yards, yards per game (375) and touchdowns. The reason Kyle Trask’s odds are not in his favor is because the Gators went 8-3, with losses to LSU, Texas A&M, and Alabama. The reason the Gators lost those games was because of their defense, with Trask not being so much at fault.

Heisman odds: +2000

Conclusion

The Heisman winner will be announced on Jan 5, 2021. The winner of this prestigious award is a toss up at this moment. Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith, both teammates, currently come in as the favorites. But it wouldn’t be surprising if Lawrence and Trask win the award.
