College Bowl Games: Florida Teams

The State of Florida has some amazing college football teams. Here are all of your Florida Teams participating in bowl games:

Florida Gators vs. Oklahoma Sooners – Cotton Bowl

Dec. 30 at 8:00 P.M airing on ESPN

Spread: Florida -3

Over/Under: 69.5

For the third straight year, the Florida Gators are NY6 Bowl-bound, this time playing at the Cotton Bowl. In this game, No. 7 Florida faces the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Oklahoma and Florida have met only once when the top-ranked Gators posted a 24-14 win over the No. 2 Sooners in the BCS National Championship on Jan. 8, 2009, in Miami. Don’t be surprised if the Florida Gators win, despite the better ranking of Oklahoma.

Florida Atlantic (FAU) vs. Memphis – Montgomery Bowl

Dec. 23 at 6:00 P.M airing on ESPN

Spread: Memphis -9.5

Over/Under: 50.5

Florida Atlantic will face off against Memphis in the inaugural Montgomery Bowl taking place in Montgomery, Alabama. FAU is 4-0 all-time in bowl games, while Memphis is 5-8. The Memphis Tigers previously faced Florida Atlantic in the 2007 New Orleans Bowl, which FAU won 44-27. Fans will be allowed to attend the Montgomery Bowl, the game that is replacing the Fenway Bowl due to Covid-19.

When it comes to matchups, Memphis seems to be in good hands against a low-scoring FAU team. Memphis QB Brady White has thrown for 3,096 yards this year with 28 TD’s and 9 INT’s compared to FAU QB Nick Tronti’s 759 yards on 5 TD’s and 2 INT’s. Receiving-wise, Memphis WR Calvin Austin III leads the team with 60 receptions, 1,025 yards and 10 TD’s. FAU WR TJ Chase leads the team in receiving but with only 21 receptions, 328 yards and 1 TD.

UCF vs. BYU – Boca Raton Bowl

Dec. 22 at 7:00 P.M airing on ESPN

Spread: BYU -7

Over/Under: 71.5

The UCF Knights will conclude their season by staying in the State of Florida. UCF will face BYU in what is the 7th edition of the Boca Raton Bowl. The BYU Cougars (10-1), who are ranked No. 16 in the College Football Playoff rankings, are off to their best start since 2011. They come in as the heavy favorites, especially with top QB Zach Wilson. Wilson is expected to be a high draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, throwing for 3,267 passing yards with 30 passing touchdowns and 8 rushing touchdowns this season. UCF’s Dillon Gabriel is not that much worse as he is second in the country with 3,353 passing yards and 30 touchdown passes.

This should be an amazing game between two high scoring teams. Expect Zach Wilson to go off in what is his last ever College Football game before entering the NFL.

Miami Hurricanes vs. Oklahoma State – Cheez-It Bowl

Dec. 29 at 5:00 P.M airing on ESPN

Spread: OSU -3

Over/Under: 59.5

The Hurricanes will face Oklahoma State in the Cheez-It Bowl taking place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. This marks the 44th time in school history the Hurricanes have competed in a bowl game and the eighth straight year in which the Hurricanes will compete in a postseason game. #18 Miami owns a 20-23 overall record in 43 previous bowl games, looking to win against the #21 ranked Cowboys. It is only the second time that the Hurricanes (8-2, 7-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) will meet the Cowboys (7-3, 6-3 Big 12). The other time was Oct. 5, 1991, when the Canes cruised to a 40-3 win in the Orange Bowl en route to their fourth national title.
