The Miami Dolphins Host the Reigning Super Bowl Champs

On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins will host the reigning Super Bowl Champs. It has been an amazing season so far for the Dolphins, but the remaining few games will really be a test. It starts here, when Tua and the rest of the crew, face Patrick Mahomes and the lethal Chiefs offense.

Chiefs Offense vs. Dolphins Defense

The Dolphins Defense has been amazing this year, but they haven’t faced this good of an offense. Patrick Mahomes is one of a kind and the Dolphins pass rushers are going to have a hard time putting on pressure. The Dolphins secondary is also going to struggle, as they have to face the fastest NFL player as well as the best Tight End. Xavien Howard has been an elite CB this year, but Byron Jones is going to be the key defensive player in this game. Byron Jones is the most capable of guarding Tyreek Hill out of any other Dolphins player.

To no surprise, Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL in passing yards with 3815. But the rest of the Chiefs offense also leads in many categories. Travis Kelce leads all TE’s in receptions (82), receiving yards (1114) and touchdowns (8). Speedster Tyreek Hill ranks 2nd out of all WR’s with 1079 yards, and ranks 1st in TD’s with 13. In total, the Chiefs offense leads the NFL in passing yards (3862), first down percentage (41.7%), and also interceptions thrown with only two.

Miami Dolphins Defensive Stats

The Miami Dolphins Defense has held opponents to low amount of yards and points this season. The numbers are likely to change dramatically when they face Kansas City on Sunday. So far this year, the Dolphins Defense has allowed the least amount of touchdowns in the NFL. But there is still one thing to worry about when it comes to the Dolphins Defense, and that is YPR. The Dolphins Defense has allowed the most yards per reception in the NFL (11.9), and this can be dangerous with a guy like Patrick Mahomes slinging a football to speedster Tyreek Hill.

Preview

Against the Chiefs, Tua Tagovailoa will get his first big chance to show fans and coaches how he can sling the ball. The Dolphins are going to have a heavy pass attack, as they need to keep up with the high-scoring Chiefs. DeVante Parker is going against a tough Chiefs secondary, but he is going to need to step up. Mike Gesicki who is coming off a monster week, should also play a big factor in the Dolphins passing game. The Dolphins need to win this game, and Brian Flores will most likely pull out all the tricks from his bag. For the Chiefs, they look to win out the rest of the season in order to lock down the 1st seed in the AFC. Right now, the Chiefs are tied with the Steelers (Both 11-1), for the 1st seed.

Kickoff is at 1:00 PM at Hard Rock Stadium, the place where the Chiefs held up the Lombardi Trophy last February.
