2026 NHL Winter Classic Budget 101: How Much Does a Hockey Fan Need to Spend?

Love of hockey is devotion. Sooner or later, a fan starts to spend more on attending matchups and team events, buying special items, following themed nights, and collecting souvenirs. New merchandise drops regularly during a season, and sales offer sweet deals all year round. Hockey is marketing, too. But it gives a fan a sense of belonging and being part of the team.

Less than two weeks ago, the NHL and the Florida Panthers unveiled the official jerseys for the 2026 Winter Classic. On Nov. 20, all event-related merchandise went on sale online and at the Panthers’ team stores in Sunrise and Fort Lauderdale. It only took a few days for fans to show up at home games wearing new jerseys and caps. While they look bright and hot, some price tags are overwhelming.

So, how much will it cost to experience the 2026 NHL Winter Classic full force for one person?

Breakdown

$225 – starting ticket price on Ticketmaster
$34 – parking lot 3 miles away from LoanDepot Park
$295 – official jersey with a players name & number
$35 to $65 – caps
$55 to $60 – logo scarf
$85 – polo shirt
$12 – puck
$125 – hoodie

All prices are per item and don’t include taxes.  In-arena gameday entertainment will incur additional expenses, including snacks, food, and drinks. Out-of-state hockey admirers will have to add a hotel stay and logistics to their one-of-a-kind experience.

But this regular-season ice hockey game between the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers is special for many reasons. It’s a historical moment for the league and the state: breaking standards, raising the bar, doing something that hasn’t been done before. Any fan who will be at loanDepot Park on January 2, 2026, will become a part of history.

Just 36 years ago, nobody could imagine the Sunshine State having two successful NHL clubs with five Stanley Cups between them: the Florida Panthers with two and the Tampa Bay Lightning with three. The sky is the limit. And the NHL and Panthers are ready to host the first-ever outdoor hockey game in a tropical climate.

It’s going to be fun. Follow @FLTeams on social media for updates.
