The UCF Knights are officially in must-win territory.
Following a brutal sweep at the hands of Oklahoma State—where they were outscored 35-6 over three games—UCF now finds itself outside the top 12 in the Big 12 standings and dangerously close to missing out on the conference tournament.
In just their second season in the Big 12, the Knights have hit a wall. What started as a promising campaign has turned into a tense postseason push, made worse by the new tournament format that only allows the top 12 teams to qualify. As of now, UCF is just below the cut line.
The good news? There’s still time.
UCF has two Big 12 series remaining, giving them a narrow but real path to sneak into the tournament. To get there, they’ll likely need at least one win, and potentially two, depending on how the rest of the conference shakes out. Just as importantly, the Knights will be keeping a close eye on BYU, hoping for stumbles down the stretch.
This weekend, UCF hosts Texas Tech, a team fighting for seeding and just as hungry for wins. The following week, the Knights will close out the regular season at home against Baylor, another team jockeying for position in the standings.
The math is simple: win and watch. The Knights must play with urgency, clean up their pitching, and find some offense before it’s too late.
Remaining Schedule:
-
vs. Texas Tech (This Weekend)
-
vs. Baylor (Next Weekend)
Every inning matters now. The Knights are fighting for their postseason lives.
