Dwight Howard to be Named to the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame

The Orlando Magic announced on Thursday night that franchise center Dwight Howard would be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. The former first overall pick played for the team for eight seasons, leading them to the 2009 NBA Finals.

Dwight Howard’s induction is no surprise as he is the franchise leader in points, rebounds, and blocks. He was on the All-NBA 1st Team five straight years in Orlando, winning three Defensive Player of the Year titles during that span. Howard is the only player in NBA history to have won three-straight DPOYs. He is also a 2025 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame finalist for his efforts. His induction marks the 13th in team history, with the last being guard Dennis Scott in 2023.

In a video Dwight Howard uploaded to Instagram, he said, “I am so excited to come down to Orlando soon to get inducted in the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame. This is the most amazing honor… I can’t wait to get back to O-Town to see every single one of you celebrating.”

His induction is set for Monday, March 24 at 3:45 P.M. The team states it is taking place at the Kia Center, near the Orlando Magic Fan Experience.
