Ethan Gauthier Selected 37th Overall by Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning have selected Ethan Gauthier with the 37th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Ethan Gauthier

Gauthier, 18, played in the QMJHL for the Sherbrooke Phoenix last season. The right winger tallied 69 points through 63 games last season. Furthermore, he recorded 14 points in 11 games in the playoffs. In addition, Gauthier represented Canada in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He finished fourth in points throughout the tournament, helping Canada win the gold. Next year, the Canadian will stay in the QMJHL, playing for the Drummondville Voltigeurs.

Tampa Bay are pleased that Gauthier fell to them at 37, as he was regarded by many as a first round prospect. Ethan Gauthier is a gritty player who is always applying pressure. Not only does he obtain the grit, but he also is very skillful with nifty hands as well as an ability to stretch the ice. As many prospects do, he still has some areas to be improved, such as skating.

In the future Gauthier looks to be a middle-six forward that can bring valuable depth to a championship team.
