The Florida Panthers have selected Gracyn Sawchyn with the 63rd overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Gracyn Sawchyn
Sawchyn, 18, played for the Seattle Thunderbirds last season. The center averaged a point per game, with 58 in 58. Throughout the season, Sawchyn won nearly 53% of his faceoffs, displaying his ability in the circle. Sawchyn had a sneaky good year being hidden under the juggernaut that was the Thunderbirds.
The Alberta native does not have spectacular offensive output or a big frame. He is simply a guy who gets the job done. Continuously moving and making all the right, small plays, Sawchyn will be a good bottom-six forward. However, if Sawchyn fills out his frame and improves upon his skills, he could see top-six time in his career.
