Stepan Zvyagin Selected 198th Overall by the Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have selected Stepan Zvyagin with the 198th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Stepan Zvyagin

Zvyagin, 19, played in Russia this past season in both the top league and the junior league. Stepan spent most of his time in the junior league–the MHL–with Dinamo-Shinnik. In the MHL he put up 33 points in 37 games. Zvyagin also spent 15 games in the KHL with Dinamo Minsk but he only tallied one point. Zvyagin will remain with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL next season.

The Moscow native stands six foot tall but only 160 pounds. He still needs to fill out his frame to find the same success he had in juniors in the pros. Zvyagin is another one of the typical 7th round Hail Mary selections. For now he looks like he will be in the KHL for a while. However you should never rule out a potential surprise making the NHL roster.
