Florida Atlantic Owls vs. Southeastern Louisiana Lions – Game Recap

The FAU Owls (2-1, 1-0 C-USA) cruised past Southeastern Louisiana Lions (0-2) in a 42-9 win last Saturday at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla.

Running backs Larry McCammon III and Zuberi Mobley both rushed for 125+ yards in the win, the first time FAU has had multiple players rush for over 100 yards since Devin Singletary (now with the Buffalo Bills) and Kerrith White did it in November of 2018.

Graduate quarterback N’Kosi Perry continued a solid start to his final college campaign with another productive outing. Though he threw an interception on the opening drive, and again in the fourth quarter, Perry finished the night 18/30 for 259 yards and three touchdowns.

The offense wasn’t discouraged by the turnover to start the game. Four of the following five drives all resulted in a touchdown for FAU, including a one-yard touchdown run by McCammon as time expired in the second quarter, leaving them up 28-3 at halftime.

The offense slowed down in the second half, being forced to punt on their first drive. Mobley ended their second drive of the half with a four-yard touchdown run, his second of the season.

The Owls defense, however, continued playing very well past the intermission, conceding their first and only touchdown of the game with 7:56 left in the fourth quarter.

Perry and the offense couldn’t get back in the endzone following the Lions’ only touchdown, leaving FAU with a 42-9 win over the only FCS opponent they’ll face this season.

The Owls will now prepare for possibly their toughest game of the year, a home matchup with the UCF Knights (1-1) this Saturday at FAU Stadium at 7:30 PM.
