The State of Florida has a plethora of elite college players.
The Miami Hurricanes have quarterback Tyler Van Dyke who lit up the college football world the second half of last season, averaging well over 300 yards a game.
The Florida Gators have ultra-talented Anthony Richardson, who has the talent to win the Heisman and be the number one pick in the draft.
The UCF Knights bring back veteran running back Isaiah Bowser, who has the potential to be the best player in Florida, but as of right now, the best player in the State of Florida is someone who most people haven’t even heard of at the moment.
FIU has had a horrible couple of seasons. However, there was one big bright spot for them last season.
Tyrese Chambers is re-writing the record books at FIU. Chambers already broke the single-season receiving yard record with 1,074. The record was previously held by FIU great and NFL star T.Y Hilton. Chambers was also second in the nation in yards per catch with 23.9. Simply put, the 23-year-old has the rare ability to dominate and take over the game without needing the ball. He can break the game open with a single catch.
Chambers showed his game-breaking ability every week. When FIU went up against Charlotte, Chambers had three catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns. FIU lost that game, but Chambers made his best Randy Moss impression to keep them in the game. He repeated the performance against Southern Miss, where Chambers had five catches for 155 yards and one touchdown. These two games show how much damage Chambers can do with just a couple of catches.
FIU may have been atrocious last year, only winning one game, but Tyrese Chambers put on a show week in and week out, and last year’s insane stat line proves he’s the best football player in Florida. NFL scouts will be enamored with Chambers’ big play ability.
