On the second day of betting the Florida board, we look to rebound today with two picks. We head back to the diamond as I look at the Rays and Marlins games.
The Rays are traveling to Cincinnati to compete against a struggling Reds team. The Rays have arguably the best pitcher in baseball in Shane McClanahan. He shuts down opposing offenses with a record of 9-3 with an ERA of 1.74. He’s only allowed three runs in his last 20 innings pitched. If you look up the definition of dominance in the dictionary, a picture of McClanahan would appear. Even on top of the dominance displayed by him, the Rays team as a whole is just flat-out killing squads right now. They are 5-1 in their last six games after beating the Red Sox and Blue Jays with an OPS of .867. The Rays might do even better because they are going up against the lowly Reds, who have been awful this year, particularly at home; they are 3-13 since June 8th. It was easy to see all the numbers and come to a quick choice to pick the Rays to win today.

If you watched the Miami Marlins play yesterday, you saw them get curb stomped by the Mets 10-0. They couldn’t muster any offense, including Brian Anderson, who went 0 for 3 and lost our bet. But we have a new opportunity today. Pablo Lopez will be pitching, playing at an all-star level, and going up against veteran pitcher Chris Bassitt. The Marlins offense has been horrendous against the Mets, and with Pablo Lopez on the bump pitching, offensive runs may be hard to come by. So the second pick of the day will be sweating out six outs in the first innings and betting that no one scores a run.
