Former Baylor QB Gerry Bohanon has transferred to the University of South Florida (USF).
Bohanon, 22, is a dual-threat quarterback that led the Baylor Bears to a program-best 12-2 record last year. Baylor even finished the season with a ranking of No. 5 in the country.
Bohanon played in 12 out of the 14 games, going 10-2 with 2,200 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. The senior completed 62.9% of his passes and also rushed for 323 yards and nine touchdowns.
Seems like an amazing college quarterback, right? Then, why did Bohanon transfer to a school with less notoriety?
Simply, Bohanon lost his starting job to sophomore Blake Shapen in Baylor’s spring camp. So, the four-star quarterback entered the transfer portal and ended up choosing USF over several Power 5 programs, including Missouri, BYU, Georgia Tech, Liberty and Oklahoma.
Gerry Bohanon to ESPN:
“I picked USF because I believe in that staff, I believe in the culture, I believe in the change that’s coming, I believe in the players, I believe in Tampa. That staff is the staff you want to play for, they’re going to give u everything they have.”
