Orlando Proves the Haters Wrong, Defeats Golden State 94-90

On a cool Tuesday evening in Orlando, the Magic hosted the visiting Golden State Warriors who are on the first night of a back to back. The Magic had a record of 19 wins and 53 loses heading into this matchup. Meanwhile, the Warriors, who were without Stephen Curry for the night, had a record of 47 wins and 24 loses.

In Tuesday’s match, the Magic came out to a blazing start out-scoring the Warriors 25 to 17 in the first quarter and kept that eight point lead at the halftime buzzer. However, coach Steve Kerr said his peace of mind and the Warriors came out on fire in the second half, specifically in the third quarter. The Warriors almost doubled the Magic’s third quarter point total, outscoring Orlando 36 to 19.

However, in the fourth quarter, the Magic fought hard and came back to defeat Golden State 94-90. Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr, and Cole Anthony led the Magic to victory. Wagner finished with 18 points, Carter Jr. finished with 19 points and Cole Anthony scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Mo Bamba hit a clutch three in the fourth to shift the momentum in the Magic’s favor.

Golden State’s leading scorer was upcoming star Jordan Poole, who dropped 26 for the Warriors in the loss. Warriors stars Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson could not find their stroke as they shot a combined 11-of-34 from the field and totaled only 28 points combined.

Next Up

The Magic look to finish the season strong as they look to stay hot in their next four matchups. The Magic will travel to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder Wednesday night. After that, the Magic face the Sacramento Kings at home before going back on the road to face the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Washington Wizards.

The Warriors, meanwhile, head to FTX Arena in Miami for a matchup with the top-seeded Miami Heat.
