Heat Hold Off Nets’ Late Surge, 115-111

The Miami Heat returned home on Saturday, February 12, after a lengthy six-game road trip. For their first home game in February, the Heat welcomed the struggling Brooklyn Nets to FTX Arena. Finally staying healthy, the Heat rolled out their usual starting lineup for this contest.

Recap

A back-and-forth first quarter saw the score knotted up at 26 after 12 minutes of action. A Heat shooting explosion opened up a 38-point second quarter for Miami. A solid third quarter saw the home team take a 91-76 lead into the final frame. Fueled by Kyrie Irving, the Nets came roaring back in the fourth but fell just short of completing an epic comeback. Good guys win, 115-111.

For the Heat, everyone did their jobs in this one. Seven players scored in double figures, and the other two rotation players scored 17 combined points. The three ball did not fall at a particularly high rate (34.5%), but the Heat made up for it by getting to the free throw line, where they made 23 of 29 attempts, and shooting 50% from the field.

Bam Adebayo continued his excellent play as of late. He led the team in scoring (19) and rebounding (14) while handing out four assists. Jimmy Butler had a relatively off night for his standards. The rest of the starters, however, more than made up for the All-Star’s shooting woes.

Kyle Lowry orchestrated the offense perfectly. Duncan Robinson canned five of his eight three-point attempts. P.J. Tucker gave everything he had on both ends of the floor. Tyler Herro brought scoring off the bench. Overall, it was a perfect team game for the best team in the East.
