Hurricanes Add the Nation’s Top Assistant Coach, Josh Gattis

It took two long months, but the Miami Hurricanes have finally found their man.

Former Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis has just accepted the role to be the new Miami OC. Gattis, 38, has done it all. He conquered OSU, won the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach and led the Wolverines to a Big 10 title.

Michigan’s offense under Gattis ranked 13th against FBS teams in 2021 averaging an outstanding 35.8 PPG while being able to compile 5.22 YPC against FBS opponents (12th best in the country).

Miami was without a doubt the worst rushing team in the ACC last year, averaging a putrid 3.27 YPC. The Hurricanes have a stable of running backs led by Jaylon (Rooster) Knighton and Don Chaney returning from injury, so there will be no shortage of talent for Gattis to work with. Miami also ended the season with a prolific passing attack led by the man himself, Tyler Van Dyke. TVD compounded some unbelievable stats in a very short period of time as the Hurricanes starter. Gattis and TVD will be looking to build off of that late-season momentum and create some offensive fireworks that the Hurricane fan base has been longing for.
