The Florida Panthers road woes continued to show Tuesday night, as they were avenged by the St. Louis Blues on the road, 4-3 in overtime. Pavel Buchnevich scored 53 seconds into overtime and Ville Husso stopped 34 of 37 shots.
Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Brandon Montour all scored for the Panthers, while Carter Verhaeghe and Maxim Mamin had two assists each. Spencer Knight, despite allowing four goals, stopped 26 out of 30 shots.
First Period:
Before the game Tuesday night, it would be announced that Florida captain Aleksander Barkov and defenseman Gustav Forsling would be back in the lineup.
The Panthers would once again come out dominating the game quickly in shots, eventually outshooting the Blues 20-5 in the first period. Aleksander Barkov would score the only goal in the first period at the 6:49 mark when Maxim Mamin would set up Aleksander Barkov on an odd-man rush, and from there, the captain would tuck a perfect feed that went past Husso.
Second Period:
The Blues would wake up in the second period, coming back and outshooting the Panthers 15-8. Vladimir Tarasenko would tie the game at one at the 4:20 mark when he would collect a pass from Ivan Barbashev, and would rip it past Knight. Just under a minute later, the Panthers would take a 2-1 lead when Carter Verhaeghe would have a shot blocked, and deflected to Brandon Montour, who shot it past St. Louis defenders. With 13:16 gone, Brandon Montour would receive a double-minor for high-sticking Oskar Sundqvist. 18 seconds later, the Blues would tie the game when Vladimir Tarasenko would redirect the puck to Brayden Schenn, and would shoot it near the blue paint.
Third Period:
The Blues would take their first lead of the night after Brandon Saad would tip in a one-timer from Ivan Barbashev just as a Blues power play expired. The Panthers would not go down easy, however, tying the game at three when Jonathan Huberdeau deflected a cross-ice pass from Radko Gudas. After the play, Blues goaltender Ville Husso was injured with a lower-body injury. As a result, Husso was replaced by Charlie Lindgren, who stopped all three shots faced.
Overtime:
53 seconds into overtime, the Blues would capture the win when Pavel Buchnevich beat Spencer Knight on a beautiful wrap-around goal.
Next Up:
The Panthers will continue their road trip, this time going to the Arizona Coyotes on Friday night. Face-off is at 9 PM.
