Dolphins Win 3 Straight, Defeat Jets 24-17

The Miami Dolphins continued their winning streak Sunday afternoon, traveling to East Rutherford and defeating the New York Jets 24-17. The Dolphins were led by Tua Tagovailoa, who had a pretty good performance, completing 27 of 33 passes for 273 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Myles Gaskin carried the ball 23 times for 89 yards and also recorded a receiving touchdown.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins came out on their first offensive drive taking advantage of a bad Jets defense, driving down 83 yards in 11 plays. This included Tua completing his first five passes, eventually ending with a Jaylen Waddle one-yard touchdown run, his first touchdown run as an NFL player.

Miami’s next possession would be rough, however, with Tua throwing an interception, which would set up for the Jets to tie the game at seven.

Tua would show something he does not typically show much, throwing deep. The Dolphins would retake the lead 14-7 with 9:06 left in the third quarter, when Tagovailoa threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to WR Mack Hollins, who paralleled the sideline.

The Dolphins would retake the lead 21-14 with 10:15 left to go in the fourth quarter after Tagovailoa completed a five-yard touchdown pass to Myles Gaskin. Miami would then put the game out of reach when Jason Sanders knocked a 24-yarder chip-shot at the two-minute warning.

New York Jets

If there was anything to describe the Jets game Sunday, it was sloppy.

However, the offense was clicking on some parts. Joe Flacco would get the start for the Jets, and played decently. He went 24-of-39 passing for 291 yards and two touchdowns.

The Jets would get their first touchdown of the day after being set up by an Ashtyn Davis interception, and a Michael Carter run down to the Dolphins one-yard line. Carter would have nine carries for 63 yards in the game.

The Jets would never seem to go away in this game. Despite the Dolphins having momentum late in the third quarter, the Jets would tie the game at 14 after an Elijah Moore 62-yard touchdown pass, which was a defensive miscue by Byron Jones. Elijah Moore would end with eight receptions with 144 yards and a touchdown.

Jets K Matt Ammendola would miss field goals of 56 and 40 yards, despite making the final one, a 35-yarder with 15 seconds left.
