NFL Week 8 Recap: Buccaneers, Jaguars, and Dolphins

All three NFL teams in the State of Florida lost in Week 8.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now lost six consecutive games to the New Orleans Saints after a 36-27 loss. The Saints are now only a half-game behind the Buccaneers in the NFC South divisional race.

Quarterback Jameis Winston, the first overall pick by the Buccaneers in 2015, made his first career start against his former team Sunday before exiting the game due to a knee injury. Winston completed 6-of-10 passes for 56 yards with one touchdown, a 108.8 passer rating and carried four times for 40 yards.

Trevor Siemian replaced Winston in the second quarter and completed 16 of 29 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady played well, completing 28-of-40 passes for 375 yards and four touchdowns. However, Brady’s pick-six in the closing minutes was the game-deciding play, handing the Saints a crucial win.

Jacksonville Jaguars

2021 NFL Season: Seahawks vs. Jaguars 4th Quarter game thread - Field Gulls

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to a Russell Wilson-less Seattle Seahawks team, 31-7 on Sunday afternoon.

There wasn’t much good for Jacksonville to take away from the loss. The Jaguars came less than two minutes away from being shut out for only the fourth time in franchise history in a regular-season game.

Rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw a whopping 53 passes, but only completed 32 of them. In addition, the 2021 No. 1 overall pick only had 238 yards, with more than half of those yards coming in the fourth quarter with Seattle holding a comfortable lead.

Jacksonville could not slow down Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett. Lockett had 12 receptions for 142 yards, an average of 11.8 yards per catch.

Miami Dolphins

Dolphins vs. Bills: Winners, losers from Miami's Week 8 loss

The Miami Dolphins suffered yet another disappointing loss, this time to the Buffalo Bills, 26-11.

Brian Flores’ defense put up a good effort for most of the game, but they fell short down the stretch. Tua Tagovailoa and the offense weren’t able to attack one of the league’s best defenses effectively, and that was one of the key reasons for the loss.

Miami has now lost seven straight games.
