The battle of the Sunshine State commenced on Monday night. Cole Anthony and the Orlando Magic traveled down to Miami to take on Jimmy Butler and the Heat. Fresh off a win against the red-hot New York Knicks, the Magic were down in South Beach to take on a Heat team who looks out for blood so far this season. The Heat came into this one as 13.5 point favorites. Butler and company proceeded to prove exactly why that line was set so high.
Recap and Rookie Sensations
The game started out all Miami, and after the first quarter, this one looked over and done with. Subsequently, Orlando proceeded to keep up with Miami for the duration of the game. Despite this, the Magic never really cut into the deficit they found themselves in after the end of the first quarter. Rookies Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs led the way for Orlando in this one with 15 points each. Wagner did his work inside the key shooting 4-of-6 from inside the arc. On the other hand, Suggs lit it up from downtown, shooting 4-of-8 from deep while being guarded by a lockdown defender in Jimmy Butler.
Jimmy Buckets
The Heat were firing on all cylinders on Monday night as it showed in the box score. Jimmy Butler posted 36 points on 15-of-21 shooting with five steals. Jimmy’s 36 points are the third-most points he has scored in a regular-season game with the Heat. When asked about what worked Monday versus other nights, Butler has this to say in response: “I shot the same shots. They just happened to go in tonight.” Butler was dialed in both offensively and defensively and it was the jumpstart the Heat needed in this one to get the job done.
Breaking Records
The Miami Heat shot 19-of-19 from the foul line, tying the second-most makes without a miss in team history.
