FAU Puts Up 58 Points In Shula Bowl Win Over FIU

The Florida Atlantic Owls (FAU) put up 58 points in a 58-21 win over Florida International University (FIU) on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Owls have won their fifth straight Shula Bowl, a name given to the Florida Atlantic–Florida International football rivalry.

N’Kosi Perry had yet another fantastic game. Perry, the transfer from Miami, completed 18-of-21 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns. The 23-year-old also had a rushing touchdown. Even more impressive, Perry has not thrown an interception all season.

Perry’s top weapon, Johnny Ford, had a terrific game. On the ground, Ford had 102 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. And in the passing game, Ford had two catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. Ford’s impact was felt most after catching an 86-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

WR Je’Quan Burton was another top weapon for Perry, catching seven passes for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Overall, FAU’s offense had 704 total yards (408 passing).

Meanwhile, FIU only had 388 total yards. Starting quarterback Max Bortenschlager didn’t have his best game. He completed only 12-of-27 passes for 263 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
