Trevor Lawrence Struggles In First NFL Game, Texans Beat Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence made his NFL debut Sunday against Houston. The rookie and No. 1 overall pick threw three interceptions in the Jaguars 37-21 opening season loss, something he never did in a game in college. However, Lawrence finished with 332 passing yards, the fourth-most in a debut in NFL history.

In the rushing game, Carlos Hyde had a team-high nine carries and 44 yards. Second-year star James Robinson didn’t play as well as usual, but still managed to get 25 yards on five carries.

Receiving-wise, DJ Chark Jr. had 86 yards and one touchdown on three receptions. Marvin Jones, who made his Jaguars’ debut, had 77 yards and one touchdown on five receptions. Laviska Shenault Jr. also played well, racking up 50 yards on seven receptions.

For the Texans, quarterback Tyrod Taylor had 291 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-33 passing. Taylor, who was named Houston’s starter instead of Deshaun Watson, threw zero interceptions.

Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks was extraordinary for Houston. Cooks, the former Super Bowl champ, has 132 yards on five receptions.
