Dolphins Beat Patriots, Sit Atop AFC East Standings

The Miami Dolphins won in Foxboro for just the second time since 2008. Miami’s defense combined with Jaylen Waddle’s playmaking ability sealed the deal.

Tua Tagovailoa completed 16 of his 27 throws for 202 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Rookie Jaylen Waddle, meanwhile, made his NFL debut and caught four of his six targets for 61 yards and a touchdown.

For New England, Mac Jones completed 29 of his 39 throws for 281 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut. Nelson Agholor was New England’s leading receiver, recording a team-high 72 yards on five catches in his Patriots debut.

Defensively, the Dolphins did terrific. In the final minutes of Sunday’s game, Eric Rowe stripped the ball away from Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson and Xavien Howard recovered the fumble. This sealed the game for Miami. Simply, the Dolphins are a turnover machine. Miami now has a turnover streak of 23 games – the longest active streak in the NFL.
