The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired slugger Nelson Cruz and pitcher Calvin Faucher from the Minnesota Twins. In return, Minnesota has received prospects Joe Ryan and Drew Strotman.
Nelson Cruz
Cruz, 41, is a seven-time All-Star and a four-time Silver Slugger. While his age may stick out, Cruz is showing no sign of slowing down. This season in 296 AB’s, Cruz is hitting .294 with 19 home runs and 50 RBI’s. In his career (6693 AB’s), Cruz has 436 home runs and 1864 hits.
Calvin Faucher
Faucher, a right-handed minor league pitcher, is 1-1 this season with a 7.04 ERA in 19 games at the AA level.
Joe Ryan
