Cody Morissette Selected By Marlins With 52nd Overall Pick

The Miami Marlins selected shortstop Cody Morissette out of Boston College with the 52nd overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.

Who is Cody Morissette?

Morissette, clocking in at 6 feet and 175 pounds, recorded a batting average of .321 with six home runs and 33 RBIs in his junior season.

The 59th ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline received All American honors as a freshman and sophomore. He also made the All-ACC Second Team during his freshman year and has a career total of 12 home runs and 85 RBIs.

“I am extremely blessed with the opportunity that I am going to get in Miami,” Morissette said to seacoastonline.com. “It’s a great organization, and I can’t wait to get to work whenever that time comes.”

At pick No. 52, Morissette represents the Marlins’ third overall selection of the 2021 MLB Draft. The New Hampshire product joins a Marlins class highlighted by the 16th overall pick (Kahlil Watson) and the 31st overall selection (Joe Mack).

Morissette currently possesses one year of eligibility left at Boston College. He holds the decision to either strike a deal with the Marlins or return to BC for his senior season.
