With the 81st pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected TE Hunter Long out of Boston College.
Hunter Long
The Dolphins continued filling holes by adding a true in-line TE to pair with the receiving threat that is Mike Gesicki. At 6’5″, 253 pounds, Long adds a more traditional TE to a newly retooled Miami offense. In 2020, Long led all tight ends in receptions (57) and receiving yards (685). He also was eighth among all tight ends nationally with five touchdown receptions. He finished his career with 89 receptions for 1297 yards and nine touchdowns at Boston College.
Long projects as a solid #2 TE who also has special teams abilities and provides another big body in the red zone. Adding a First Team All ACC and Second Team All American late in Round 3 should be considered a win by any standards. Miami continues to build on their solid young core and adding pieces to fit team specific needs.
