Hedman Propels Tampa Bay Past Chicago in a 4-1 Win

The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday afternoon, thanks to Victor Hedman’s three assists.

Game Recap

Chicago led the first period in terms of play, and they outshot Tampa Bay 12-7. However, Brayden Point scored at 6:12 into the first period to put the Lightning in the lead, 1-0. Then, it was all Lightning in the 2nd period, with three goals, to take a demanding 4-0 lead. Cirelli, Gourde, and Stamkos scored the three goals, while Hedman assisted on each of those goals. Additionally, Gourde scored his 10th goal of the season and Stamkos scored his 15th goal of the season. Although Tampa Bay dominated goal scoring in the second, Chicago once again outshot the Bolts, 14-10. Finally in the third period, Alex DeBrincat ruined the perfect game for Vasilevskiy with a goal. But the Blackhawks were not able to score anymore, as the Lightning took the 4-1 win.

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 30 out of 31 shots, in one of his best games this month. With Saturday’s performance, the Lightning goalie has won 11 straight games, and is 20-3-1, leading all NHL goalies in wins.

Anthony Cirelli on Vasikevskiy: “Vasy was unbelievable tonight like he is every night. He’s been making the huge saves when we needed him to.”

Vasilevskiy’s 11-game win streak matched the longest by a goaltender in Lightning history, a mark set by Louis Domingue in 2018-19.
